Half Buried - Chuck Brickley & John Thompson

Chuck Brickley

cloud shadows
I thumb into the soil
sunflower seeds

a neighbor’s new redwood
throws shade on my garden

jasmine scent
afternoon sunlight
in a snail shell

cracked clay pot
a squirrel deposits
a few acorns

the bird feeder two yards down
never empty this long before

half buried
iris wilts
into itself
